We're still playing today, right? Hadn't seen a thread so I figured it was cancelled.

Maryland's bus is broken down on I-68. Their uniforms and all made it, so they decided to pick random fans out of the bleachers to play today...

We may not be awesome, but we are better. In prior years we would let them make a game of it in the second half.

Three Takeaways from the WVU-Maryland Game... www.testudotimes.com/2015/9/26/9367383/maryland-west-virginia-final-score-game-2015-45-63. This isn't a rivalry anymore. The Terps have now lost nine of 10 to the Mountaineers, who they won't play again for another five years. These teams play in neighboring states, but they aren't in the same class. Dana Holgorsen's program is more talented, better on the recruiting trail and better-positioned for success. Until Maryland is good enough to do something other than be beaten like a drum against this team, there can be no substantial rivalry here. There can only be one team that's a lot better than another team with similar geography.

Well, we have reached that point in the season where we are good enough to be ranked, and may even maintain a spot near the end of the top 25 with a few "close" losses in conference before the voters realize we are 5-7 and drop us from their ballot.

Well, we have reached that point in the season where we are good enough to be ranked, and may even maintain a spot near the end of the top 25 with a few "close" losses in conference before the voters realize we are 5-7 and drop us from their ballot. Matt you sound just like Mickey... After WVU's ho-hum 3-0 start, we should find out something solid... My eyesight is no longer 20-20, but my feeling is that after three wasted weeks West Virginia’s football season will Finau-ly get underway next week at Oklahoma. The first three weeks of 2015 have been a waste, in my opinion. That is, from a standpoint of seeing how good this year’s team is going to be. I hope it will be more competitive than Dana Holgorsen’s teams have been in the past. Some believe that Holgorsen should have been fired after his 4-8 season in 2013. But then-Athletic Director Oliver Fucking Luck couldn’t do it. Holgorsen came in with a reputation of being a fine offensive coordinator, but he’d never been a head coach before at any level. To a lot of fans, the first three weeks of football aren’t enjoyable. That’s why people in the stands are heading home after the first quarter of games. That includes last Saturday’s portion of the second sellout crowd in the last two years. West Virginia is going to have to attract more of those by winning a game in “Cowboy Country” this weekend. In my opinion, and I’ve said it numerous times, WVU is better off playing opponents on the East coast than out West. In that comparison, it’s encouraging that West Virginia and old rival Pitt are getting together again with a four-game series later. If memory serves, future games are scheduled with Pervert State and Virginia Tech. Getting back to the 45-6 win against Maryland, it seems that our neighbors across the border have slipped somewhat in football. Did you notice that it required an hour to play the first quarter of that game, though? Whatever happened to the old-time games that were over in an hour or two? Other than the length of the game, WVU seemed to be clicking right along. WVU recorded 37 first downs compared to 14 for Maryland. The Mountaineers also outrushed the Terrapins 304-173 and out passed them 297-153. WVU forced six turnovers and controlled the time of possession 36:34-23:26. Individually, WVU’s Skyler Howard completed 21-of-33 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns. Maryland starter Caleb Rowe struggled, completing just 10-of-27 passes for 67 yards and four interceptions. Rushing for WVU was led by Wendell Smallwood’s 147 yards and Rushel Shell’s 77 yards. Each scored a touchdown. For Maryland, Brandon Ross ran for 130 yards. Receiving for WVU was led by Shelton Gibby. The sophomore caught six passes for 118 yards and scored twice. WVU now has to go on the road and face a 3-0 Oklahoma team. This game should provide an insight as to how competitive the Mountaineers can be this season.

We'll know the truth by 1:15 Saturday.
I'm inclined to think we are pretty good. It seems as the the offense can move the ball pretty well. The secondary is pretty good. Linebackers seem competent.
I guess the thing is that we might be that really tall 11 year old that throws harder and hits homers at will. Maybe we will be Chipper Jones. But we might be Kelly Leak.

I was at the MD game. I made the most amazing brawts ever. And drank a hundred beers, then capped off my tailgating with some Logan County moonshine. Then I recovered from my hangover with Pizza Als at my kids place that I pay for, so I get to sleep there. All in all a pretty good weekend.
One of these days you guys will come drink a beer with me. Until then yall suck and I hate you. I guess Hammy gets a pass. He ate some food with me once. Kenny came and said hi, but Kenny caught me on my most sober day ever. I aint nearly as fun sober.

I have been working on my crotchety anger about not being able to plan to attend games because they never tell you what times they are going to be.
I have to arrange child care and so forth and harumph.

I'll admit, not having Pitt or the Chokies on our schedule anymore leaves me with little choice but to enjoy the misery of our last remaining rival after Saturday's ass kicking. I just have to point out that this may be the last time these words are every typed. "Maryland may well patch some things up this week, but the Terps are more than likely in for another hard time at the office. Michigan entered the weekend 25th nationally in Bill Connelly's S&P+ rankings, then put a 31-0 pounding on a good BYU team. Michigan isn't nearly as good as West Virginia" www.testudotimes.com/2015/9/28/9403381/maryland-wvu-michigan-football-score-preview-2015

When the game was ultimately lost (other than when the clock reads 0:00) - when we gave up that cheap touchdown to close out the third quarter after Skyler's 4th down rumble brought us to within 3. Absolutely killed all the good mojo from the rest of the quarter.

The rest of this season may not be worth starting any new threads. I had thought the Sooners were really good after last week but apparently not.
OSU is mediocre. Losing at home to them is a killer. This is the most experienced team we've had or wll have for years but with an pvermatched QB and idiot coach we're not going to do shit. Hi by

My thought throughout the game was just that it clearly wasn't entirely Howard's fault, but that he is not very good at all at quarterbacking or footballing.
Honestly, the fact that Holgorsenio has been unable to recruit and develop a QB who was even adequate has been his biggest failing. That was supposed to be the thing that he was good at.
Oh, I was also thinking that the game was terrible. I can still enjoy watching games where WVU is losing or ends up losing...but watching games where the only time anything "good" happens for one team is when the other team just fucks up and looks like a jv team from the clown college is painful to watch.
That is more common in college games in general, I guess: its often more about one team screwing up than about the other team doing well. But this last game was just a crap sandwich.
