There is clearly a SEC bias in this poll. I thought it only applied to football.

The SEC has baseball stadiums that hold more people than most minor league parks.

People in the south play baseball. Most of the college season its freezing in Morgantown. I assumed that was why we got a turf field, but I think that colleges just like to have awful artificial turf fields for the fun of it.

Nah, we don't replace Mountaineer Field turf often enough so the leftovers that go to the Mountainlair suffer as a result. Now we can stagger it.

I would argue that we are "kinda good" in general.

To catch this thread up in regard to the Big XII Baseball Tournament...
WVU lost to Okie State 8-4 the next day.
WVU then played #1 seed Texas Tech the following day. WVU overcame a 4 run deficit to tie the game in the 9th and then blew it open in the 10th to win 12-7. This knocked Texas Tech out of the tournament.
The reward for beating Texas Tech was Okie State again on Saturday. The Mountaineers had to beat OSU twice in the same day to advance to the Championship Game. It was a tight game with OSU leading until WVU tied it in the bottom of the 9th. But it wasn't to be as Okie State scored 1 in the 10th to win 4-3
The belief is that WVU will still make the College Baseball Playoff thingy...

First at-large bid in school history. First bid at all since 1996. Something like the 12th bid overall. wvmetronews.com/2017/05/29/mountaineers-lead-off-ncaas-at-wake-forest-regional/ MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s baseball team, onlookers during the past 21 NCAA tournaments, won’t be on the sideline this postseason. The Mountaineers (34-24) were placed in the Winston-Salem Regional as the No. 2 seed and will face third-seeded Maryland (37-21). That is a rematch of an April 11 midweek game in College Park, where the Terps edged West Virginia 7-6. In the other regional matchup, No. 1 seed Wake Forest (39-18) meets UMBC (23-23). .. With a No. 19 RPI, the Mountaineers were in the chase to host a regional until dropping two of three at Texas and finishing 2-2 at the Big 12 tournament. Instead they will make the five-hour drive to Winston-Salem, where the double-elimination bracket is slated to run Friday though Monday. Coincidentally, Maryland (RPI 34) was projected by Baseball America as one of its “first teams out.” But the NCAA selection committee had the Terps ahead of several other bubble teams, including Auburn, Michigan and Texas A&M. Winston-Salem Regional No. 1 Wake Forest (39-18) vs. UM-Baltimore County (23-23), Friday 7 p.m. No. 2 West Virginia (34-24) vs. No. 3 Maryland (37-21), Friday 2 p.m.

I think if you have enough information to even ask that question then you are probably the official VBL baseball expert.
