Heroes getting killed. Holton already out for smoking weed and Phillip and Paige already out with 2 fouls.
Speaking of fouls, the refs are calling everything and then some. I hate watching our games because we play ugly basketball made even more unbearable by whistle happy refs.

First of all they are making everything. Second of all we are nice guys and get out of their way when they do drive. Finau-ly, fouls.

We really do miss Holton for rebounding. And...if they shoot 60% in the second half, I'll just say good game & move on.

I don't appreciate your liberal use of the word hero. I don't see Nathan Adrian shooting any sand niggers. That's what real heroes do.

Any team that shoots 90% from 3 is going to win

I'm sure Nate Adrien bullied a few nerdy A-rab kids at Morgantown High: hero.

I liked it lots better when people thought the B12 was the toughest league in the universe.

I watched our 17 zillion time champion musket loaders mow down NC State today in person, and it was glorious. I saw one of the only trophies we won that actually count.

Where do they hold those matches? Can you tell whats happening or is it just a bunch of people shooting 22s?

Normally they're in their range over the Natatorium, which has nearly zero spectator space. They shot half their match up there this morning, then had a range set up inside the Shell complete with bleachers and projectors for the scoring system. You're mostly watching them from behind (Hey RANDY!!!) but the digital scoring system shows all the shots fired, where the last one hit, and a running total for each shooter. There's five shooters per team, but the low score is thrown out. After awhile it's like watching paint dry - they have an hour and fifteen minutes to shoot 60 shots - but towards the end you can feel some bit of anticipation as the total scores come into focus and you see what scores they need to beat their competition.
After the official competition they did an exhibition "eliminator" match. Not as cool as that could be with air rifle, though - they shoot 20 shots with the top four scorers from each team and at various intervals the last place shooter is eliminated until the final shots are two people head to head. That was far more captivating than 10 people shooting for an hour trying to get 600 points apiece.
Then they let the kids, and eventually adults, handle these $5,000 pieces of tech and see just how fucking hard it really is. They were shooting from 10 meters (33 feet for us Americans) at a target that, from 1 to 10, was a smidge bigger than a quarter, and the bullseye at that distance is about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. And these guys and gals hit them at least 50 times out of 60. Our top shooter hit it 57 out of 60.

That sounds sort of cool. I'm not sure I'd be a regular spectator, but I'd like to see it once.

Yeah, I couldn't watch every match, but the occasional large group like today would be fun. While there wasn't shouting and heckling during the real part, you don't have to sit there all quiet and churchy like tennis and the experienced spectators were cheering every full bullseye. For the eliminator thing (which is not a part of regular season matches but is done at the NCAA finals and internationally) cheering was encouraged. It was all polite which rules out half this board, but it was weird to hear the Mountaineer leading Lets Go Mountaineers at a rifle event.
