For comparative purposes, I entered Vienna, WV into that database. Vienna is where I live and play golf and its a known hotbed of crime. It's only safer than 26% of towns.
Before Hammy gets all superior on me, Morgantown is 18.

NOTABLE & UNIQUE: PEOPLE
The Cross Lanes neighborhood is considered a solid choice for executive lifestyles. NeighborhoodScout's analysis ranks it as better than 90.9% of West Virginia neighborhoods for executive living, based on the wealthy, educated professionals, executives, and managers who choose to reside here, the spacious homes that are prominent features of the real estate in the neighborhood, and the high real estate appreciation rates found here relative to other neighborhoods in the state.

It seems a bit premature to suggest he was up to no good. The shooting happened before 9:00 PM and he was a passenger in someone's else's car (reportedly a relative) and there were two little kids in the car.
It's probably not random, but Bailey might have just been an innocent victim because the shooters were targeting the driver and Bailey had no knowledge let alone involvement in whatever precipitated the shooting.

Sounds about right. Opa Locka, the town south, has a worse reputation. I've never experienced anything negative in either place. Then again, I've worked a lot in both areas so I'm pretty sure I am untouchable since I have street cred.

When I watch the park bench - my first thought was exactly that - street cred.

The director of photography, sound guy, a production assistant, & the gaffer of that short actually live in Miami Gardens.
True story: One of neighbors across the street from that set called the police because she saw "a gang of thugs vandalizing the park." Turns out, that group was my film crew and I unloading our gear and setting lights/cameras up to shoot.
