I've started getting these blinking ads on this and a couple of other sites. They are extremely annoying and the pop-up blocker doesn't seem to stop them. I believe they are using flash and the appear when I open the site and then reappear if I scroll.
How do iget rid of them?

haven't been getting them...are they reacting to a mouseover or just activating on their own?

Both.
They appear when i open this site (and a couple some other including the Daily mail) and blink rapidly then vanish. Then if I scroll down they reappear and they also appear when i scroll the cursor over them on some pages. If I disable shockwave flash object I don't get them so I deduce they utilize that software. the problem with that is I then can't click on and watch many videos without going in and re-enabling it.

without looking at them first hand I can only assume you are correct that they are flash ads, assuming you are using IE, try this out. Has a good flash-ad blocker built in that will let you keep normal flash but turn off the ads www.ie7pro.com/download.php

Evidently, I wasn't the only one with the problem. when i booted up this morning an update from Adobe was available to among other things fix "bugs" (unspecified). I went ahead and installed it and now the annoying ads are gone..
