I didn't realize until now that Bungie was basically releasing rehashes of halo1. I just got it yesterday so I havent decided if its better yet but its definitely different and awesome in its own right. I need to play more multiplayer before I judge completely.

being different would be nice, i'm more than a little burnt out on halo.
Just picked up a new car though, so my game buying is really picky right now. Dead Rising 2, Civ5, and several other solid titles means this one falls into the "catch it at blockbuster" selection

I didn't know you were a Civ player, Pat.

i've always loved civ. There are certain genres that consoles just cannot recreate and the long strategy games like civ are one of the reasons I keep an up to date gaming PC. By your question I assume you also enjoy Civ?

Yeah, I never played it until Civ 4, but I am a big fan. I've been playing it again lately in anticipation of the new one coming out.

i'm probably not very good, i've never played it competitively or anything just with local friends and such, but when it coems out we should try a game if you're getting it right away.

Well I am moving this week, and I think it comes out tomorrow, so I won't be getting it immediately. I'll probably get it within the next few weeks. I'll play some with you. All I've ever really done is play with my roommate against the CPU.

Should be fun.

What is "civ"
I haven't bought any new games in the past 3-4 months and still haven't played Red Dead Redemption. Once I get the 360 set up in the new house, I'm going to rent it and see if it is a buyer (even though everybody already says it is). How is the new Halo overall?

I was out and about today and before I knew what happened I was walking out of Best Buy with a copy of it. About to play it right now. Unemployment is awesome.

installing now, maybe we can play this week some

Red Dead was shitty to me, very overhyped.
I'm pretty sure all that game reviewers require for 9.5+ reviews is the following formula:
1) sandbox gameplay, no matter how shallow 2) the word fuck a lot 3) easy shooter mechanics so anyone can feel like a badass 4) as much sexual content as possible
instant "must buy"

For me it was a must buy because the setting was something different. I liked the storyline, as well as some of the side-quests and hunting challenges. I think I put in over 30hrs, so it was well worth the 60 bucks to me.

i enjoyed the game, but i would have been happier with a rental. Not much replay and most of the hours logged came from riding in the wilderness and taking forever to go from point a to point b for side quests.
I dunno, the setting is nice but I thought the story was fairly weak, especially the ending

Yeah i wasn't a fan of the ending either.
Back to thread topic, I just picked up Reach this evening and it is pretty sweet. I have only played multiplayer and it was the most fun I've had playing a Halo game since the 2nd one. I didn't care for most of the maps on Halo 3, but the few new ones that I played so far on Reach are pretty cool. And the fact that they have the exact remakes of Ascension, Ivory Tower, Midship, and Blood Gulch is fuckin awesome in my book. I'll report on the campaign once I get there, but it might be a while.

Dude, I haven't been able to buy anything since mw2. I think that is the last fps franchise I will ever own...I love that shit! I have entire halo franchise (minus the ones I loaned to drew) odst just ruined me on hoping that reach will be great...let me know if I am wrong.
