en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_World_ChampionshipsThe Nintendo World Championships was a 1990 Nintendo-promoted video game competition. It was based on scoring points in three Nintendo Entertainment System games within a time limit of 6 minutes and 21 seconds. The competition was based loosely on the movie The Wizard. According to GameFAQs, this is the most expensive game and the rarest game for the NES [1]. The price for a normal grey catridge is $3000-$5000 and the price for a gold cartridge goes even to $15000+. For the competition, 116 special game cartridges were manufactured. 90 of these copies exist in a grey cartridge and were fiven out to semi-finalists of the 1990 NWC. 26 of these cartridges are gold - like the Legend of Zelda cartridge - and were fiven out to winners and runners-up in a contest held by Nintendo Power magazine. To play the cartridge, one must have a controller connected to both controller ports and press start on the second player's controller. For the competition, there was a special switch that would start all cartridges simultaneously. Both versions of the cartridge feature DIP switches on the front, which can alter the time limit. The Nintendo World Championships 1990 game cartridge is considered to be the rarest and most valuable NES cartridge released, promo cartridges aside,[2] and the gold variation is nicknamed the holy grail of video game collecting[3]. Recently, a grey cartridge went on eBay and sold for a record $6,100, and a gold cartridge was up for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now purchase price of $20,000. In September 2007, another gold cartridge was sold privately, though the price and other information was not disclosed[4]. This individual claims he is the one currently selling this copy on eBay for the Buy It Now price of $25,000. On April 17th, 2007, a gold cartridge was inadvertently sold by a father who was selling his son's possessions who had died in Iraq on myebid.com. The father was selling 24 cartridges, with no special attention paid to the Nintendo World Championships 1990 cartridge. The listing ended at $21,400[1], though it is unlikely that this amount was actually paid. Collectors have speculated that this listing was not legitimate to begin with, and that the bids may also not have been legitimate[5][6]. On myebid the same person that bought the gold cartridge is selling it with his collection complete with every game for the NES, SNES and Sega Genesis (Excluding PowerFest '94) [2] To date, of the 26 NWC gold cartridges produced, only 12 copies have ever surfaced. The last copy sold in April 2008 for $15,000 to a collector in New York[7]. The NWC Gold cartridge is often compared to "holy grail" items from other collectible hobbies, such as the T206 Honus Wagner baseball card, Inverted Jenny postage stamp or Action Comics #1 comic book. Reproductions of the game cartridge, with the DIP switches, can be purchased from RetroZone for $55. Currently a gold cart is on sale on eBay with a price tag of $25,000. The seller admits that he/she was the private buyer back in 2007 on a Q&A message on ebay.[3]

I didn't realize that the video game crowd had abbreviated "cartridge" to "cart."

I didn't realize that the video game crowd had abbreviated "cartridge" to "cart." Time saver....that way you have more time to play video games

I hope this fml is the "fuck my life" acronym....because I know that one. My paralegal turned me on to the FMY website last week. I enjoy reading about people's supposed "life ruining" events.
"my blind date left me at the table having to pick up the tab".....sucks to be you. Good stuff
