blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=1021"A Microsoft spokesperson just confirmed for me the news I first read a few minutes ago in a story by Ina Fried of CNET News. The official date on which Windows 7 will be available for general purchase is October 22, 2009. The RTM code will be delivered to partners at the end of July. In addition, Microsoft has confirmed its plans to make an upgrade option available for PC makers to offer customers who purchase a new PC with Windows Vista between the beginning of the “Tech Guarantee” period and the general-availability date."

I get the occasional restart of my browser...but it beats the total lockup that you used to get.

Personally I haven't used IE8 yet so I have no opinion of it

IE8 totally fucked up my computer....OK, so there were a lot of other things going on and I'm probably unfairly blaming IE8. I have IE7 on my computer now and was told by a "tech-guy" not to download IE8 because a lot of people have compatibility issues with it and it wasn't any better than 7.

I have it on my laptop. It is OK. Probably marginally better than the others. Funny, it is looking more like firefox.
Some things run better on IE. They integrated the tabbed viewing a little better. They have some kind of anonmyzer thing for secret browsing...but I think it actually just keeps the addresses from showing up in your history and blocks the cookies...
Its is ok. it isnt firefox tho.

By "other things," you mean shitloads of porn. I think the root of the issue was years of downloading free music and computer programs....but yeah, there was definitely a healthy amount of porn mixed in there, too. The back just happened to break when I updated to IE8.
