I downloaded Firefox recently and started using it. However, I still have the ads on this page and others. I thought Firefox cut those out.....or do I need to do something special.

Yeah. Gotta check out the add-ons.
Ad-Block Plus is awesome.... way better than the original adblock...I have no idea why it took me so long to upgrade that addon.
You can also take a minute to look at the skins they have...most of them are over the top, but some of them are worth considering. I think I am using some version of something called Pheonity or something.
There are some other addons that I use...then there are a lot of them I dont use because I dont understand them. I have Grease monkey...and Customize Google...which use to work much better, but has recently somehow forgotten how to rewrite the links on image searches to direct straight to the image.
Then there are a bunch of plug-ins that are important to make the internet work right, it turns out...but I cant explain any of that, either.
