Filter updated to his new BGN rumor status.
Who wouldn't want a 6'8 receiver?
Why wouldn't he transfer?

Like I said on a thread that was deleted shortly after, I have no information on this at all, but if I were him I'd be so fucking out of here.

Who the hell is Jarrett Brown going to throw to then?

Where would he go? I cant imagine there is much of a market for tall guys who cant run or catch particularly well...especially among top ten teams.

I have not been overly impressed with him so far. I have yet to see the kid even jump to get a pass. He is not very fast and he stops his routes when the DB's make contact with him. Face it guys, we played all year with 1 decent WR.

Umm, I think pretty much anyone will take a 6'8 receiver.
Wes was thrown to <10 times this year. I don't think you can judge a player by that.

You've got to be kidding...
Lyons is a terrible receiver. He's never thrown to because he can't get himself open. He can't get seperation, his routes look lousy, etc. If he had shown any ability he would have been playing more. He's been beaten out for playing time by true freshman.
He's been a great disappointment.

He can block like a motherfucker...or at least he did on 1 play

Yeah, it definitely seems like one of the reasons he wasnt targeted more is because they know it would pretty much be a wasted play to throw to him.
...that and the fact that we dont throw the ball much at all, anyway.

I believe that if we had a player step forward and show something, special they would be thrown to. Nobody other than Darius Reynaud has been able to do that. It looks like there some potential in a couple of freshman, but...
I mean, Chris Henry had nearly 2,000 yards receiving and over 20 TD's in 2 years with us. He was also the last downfield threat we had.
Either the coaches have missed on Lyons, or there's a reason we don't go to him. Are we really worried about a receiver transferring who's had 150 career receiving yards, and 0 TD's.

I just can't believe he is unable to do a fade or a fade stop from the 10 yard line. How terrible could he be?
Edit: He can't get separation on a bubble screen, so I guess he is useless in our offense.

He is transferring because someone egged his apartment, stole his bicycle and chanted insults while he was walking to class. I cannot confirm. It is what I heard.

If I was a wide receiver, WVU would be the last place I would consider going.

Personally I think this might be part of our problem. I am tired as heck about hearing about blocking receivers.
I have a chainsaw that is heavy enough that I use it to keep the lid on my trashcan.

Oh I know.
I would assume that he would have to transfer to some crappy team....like Florida International or Marshall or something.
But I only mentioned the top ten thing because it seems like being a bad receiver on a good team that doesnt throw very much might be better than being a bad receiver who may actually be the best receiver on a bad team.

wes gets open plenty. PW will not throw him the ball.
JB can come in and find him open.
PW looks at Reynaud, if he's not open, he looks to slaton...if he's not open, he runs. period.
Is lyons open every play? no. Is he open enough that a quarterback could throw to him more? Yes.
He's 6'8", you don't need to have 2 steps on your guy to be open. Run some hook patterns, and throw it high (shouldn't be a problem for PW)

All the "Lyons can't get open" rhetoric doesn't really add up when Jarrett Brown manages to find him every time he's in the game.

Who the hell is Jarrett Brown going to throw to then? Um...He doesn't throw the ball to anyone normally. He just tucks the ball and runs, failing to hand off to more talented runners when the game is on the line.

I dont know that he cant get open... but he certainly is not very fast.....and it seems that he just has never done anything in practice to earn the confidence of Rod or Pat.

He isn't much, but he is actually an outside receiver with some experience. Lord knows our cup isn't overflowing with those. Is there any basis for the story about transfering or is it just speculation based on assuming he doesn't like having as many catches a season as a lot of good receivers get in a game?

It's speculation based on lots of different people at BGN claiming that they heard he was transferring.

i hope he doesn't transfer, but its not really a loss to the team. not one that matters anyway.
there have been guys with a lot less talent than lyons makes plays at wvu. there has to be someone that can step up and catch the ball.

Some of you are as bad as BGN posters.
You were all swinging on PW's nuts and now that we lost, half of you think he is fucking terrible.
Let's finda happy medium.
