I was traveling and was fortunately spared from the last two losses. So...where we at with Dana? This season was disappointing but I don't know if it was "you're fired" disappointing. I feel like a WVU football coach has two criteria to meet: 1. Keep us at an effective base level where 7-8 wins are mostly a fiven in any year and 2. every five years or so get 10 wins and win a conference championship (or at least make the title game). I feel fairly certain now that Dana will always be a 7-8 win coach that never competes at a high level. That was enough to fire Stew in my book but now I feel certain that we're going to end up hiring Steve Kragthorpe. I dunno, I mostly feel pretty ambivalent about it all.
Let's get a good head coach argument going again - this board was at it's best when we were yelling about that dead guy that coached the team a while back.

I don't think we can do any better than Dana, but it would make sense on either side to part now if they had plans on it any time soon. The fact that he is never mentioned for blue blood openings is a little telling, imo. NAME REDACTED gets mentioned by Alabama and Michigan and Dana gets Colorado and Texas Tech.

Louisville isn't a hot-shit enough job for you?

I think he's done a decent enough job to take this program from a great Big East team to a decent Big 12 team in terms of the roster and its talent level. I think he's still floundering with his staff and finding what his balance is. Gibbie has been a loyal #DAWG but I don't think he can keep up enough with Big 12 offenses. Deputizing Spavital to run offense as he sees fit is ok, but somewhere in game Drunk has to grab the wheel back if he thinks the playcalling is going to shit rather than bitch in the postgame presser.
Is he here next year? I'm leaning 60% that he stays. I do hope that Lyons has a decent list of Bama and SEC connections in a folder when our contract with Red Bull is over.
