Randy fucked up on starting the thread last week and Hoss didn't come out to tailgate AGAIN so I'm taking over.
Sat., Nov. 19 Oklahoma: Whoa Nelly! Here come the #1 Oklahoma Sooners to EpiPen Stadium in November! Oklahoma is as good as advertised. Baker Mayfield is the leading candidate for the Hypesman Trophy, fiven annually to the most overrated college player who won't do squat in the NFL. They have receivers, OL, Defense, Special Teams, and swagger. They are looking ahead to playing in the Playoff. WVU is a two touchdown dog in this one. Yes, WVU has played well all season, but this is Oklahoma. A night time crowd will be packed into Mountaineer Field, we will break out the white throwback helmets, and as we all know, magic happens at night in Morgantown. Hide the couches! WVU: 31 OU: 24
Randy with only one miss so far, way ahead of Trad's record, and maybe he makes up the miss with correctly pegging this one as a night game.
We almost always fuck these up.

I had to edit it a little since the Sooners are not #1 right now...

Even College GameDay disrespects us by going to Western Michigan to cover the "compelling" matchup between WMU and a 2-8 Buffalo team. Yes, WVU has played well all season, but this is Oklahoma. I'd be surprised if we won this one, mostly because it would require a hell of a game out of Skyler, which he seems to not be able to do against good teams.

So I'm not the only one refusing to get my hopes up? Can I assume that you guys will also have taken the bait by about 5 minutes to kickoff and will secretly think we are capable of winning this game? Because thats totally my MO.

I'd like to think I'm wrong, but with all the buildup on this game and my experience of over 30 years as an informed Mountaineer fan (didn't pay much attention to trends as a pre-teen) this feels like a blowout is coming.

I am leaving now. No other way to prepare for a game like this than to sit on a hospital parking lot in a cold downpour for 8 or 9 hours. And I am hungover. Frankly, I am doing everything I know how to help us.

I grilled bbq chicken and am drinking beer made in Morgantown. Thats all i know to do.
Pubstomper is some random dudes canning beer in a basement i think...but i bought their pale ale at kroger the other day. Its alright...a solud pale ale.
But the can says "righteously dank ales" and I almost didn't buy ut bc i dont know what that means. But my love of novelty and locality overcame my disdain for dank nonsense.

It did resemble a big game from the 93 season - the Sugar Bowl against Florida. Dumb turnovers, dumb personal fouls, and at one point the same score.

I'm now officially an old wuss. Bailed at halftime and went back to the hotel. I've been to colder games and seen my share of crap performances, but I don't remember one where the weather sucked and the game was basically over in the 1st quarter.
Sad thing is OU is not that good. The offense is excellent but this year they have a typical Big 12 defense.
We just looked like crap. A muff (did the ball hit our guy? I really could not tell.), 2 fumbles at the 5, a roughing the kicker. More PFs than I could keep track of, and a defense that suddenly looked like an eForest unit again.
I've never bailed before, but there was literally zero chance a team with Skyler Howard at QB could overcome that.

It was real hard to tell if it was a muff, even with 5 slo-mo replays. It was close enough that I don't necessarily blame Jennings for diving after it. He's fucked up enough punts on his own, but this time I think he was justified in an attempt. If I'm picking a poison I'm giving up the points they got for him trying to make a play in exchange for not fumbling on the 3 yard line twice.

I havent left early very many times. I am the guy that is thinking, OK, two quick scores and we are back in this. But the combination of cold and hopelessness drove me to leave in the third. We were playing a little better and I was doing the math...then they piled on the lead, and we had pizza al's at my kids place. My wife had left early when i saw the INT, I texted heer to go ahead and warm me up a slice of pizza. I stayed for a few minutes more. The girl that has sat in front of me for years said, you always stay to the end too. And I started doing the math, and the odds of witnessing something epic were very slim...I said, yeah I always stay, but tonight I am going to watch the end in a warm apartment while I eat pizza.
It has always been hard to be a Mountaineer fan. In fact, when I was driving over yesterday morning, I was thinking that this could be awesome and we shut everyone up, or we could totally embarrass ourselves. I was right.
I just watched the basketball team score 100 today. I love the Mountaineers.

I can respect you for choosing Pizza Al.
Women's soccer is in their Elite Eight after giving up a late goal to UCLA and winning on penalty kicks.

Obviously this person is right on. No Mountaineer fan has ever booed our own guys before last night. No Mountaineer has ever gotten a late hut penalty before last night. No Mountaineer fan has ever left a game early before last night. No Mountaineer team has ever come unhinged during a beat down before last night. I've been watching for thirty plus years like this snowflake and I have never seen anything bad happen at Mountaineer Field. We've never thrown a trash can, golf ball, whiskey bottle on the field. We've never rocked an ambulance with an opposing player. We've never beat a person for wearing opposing colors. We've never had sections full of piss drunk fans throwing up everywhere. Nothing bad has ever happened in the field or in the stands at the new stadium before last night. And we should all be ashamed.
