I dunno...the only scenario that would really happen would be a QB prospect...and WAY more nfl qbs wash out than end up being game changers. Andrew Luck might be a peyton manning caliber fantasy player in 1-2 more seasons, but taking a chance on him late instead of a more solid/consistent RB or WR is risk/reward.
I like more rules/styles that allow for owner choices to mean a bit more and take as much "luck" out of the thing as possible.

Well, for instance, Andrew Luck went undrafted last night. But in a keeper league with the rules I mentioned, it might have been a strategic move to draft him in the last round just to have as a keeper for the future.
I understand the concern, but thats really sort of the point... I think that I have seen some other way of adjusting things, like making it so that the Keeper is charged to you in the round he was taken originally, but no lower than, say, the 5th round. Or they limit the number of years you can keep a player. Some leagues make you move up two rounds from where you drafted him to keep him each year....and then either no first or second rounders are kept or you work it out some other way.... With Auction drafts some leagues increase the cost you paid for the player by a certain percentage each year, instead of keeping it the same.
Under these ESPN rules, I guess if I have a surefire first rounder I would mark him as a keeper, but otherwise I don't see the point.
There are pretty much endless ways to set up a Keeper league.... but none of them are very easy to do with the ESPN format...and I should have brought it all up way before now... and no one here has time to do anything about it anyway I guess.

Exactly, I actually thought about drafting luck in round 6 last night, but apparently (if matt says he went undrafted) my draft screen messed up (was having issues with it all night) and said no qbs available...which i knew had to be bogus but...whatev

Hey all, sorry again about bailing. Shit just got crazy the other day, I was leaving for Qatar the next day, the guys were coming in to refinish the floors the next day, and I was trying to finish painting a room that I needed to have done before I left. Shit is a little nuts right now. If it makes you guys feel any better, I am pretty sure my team is going to be relatively shitty next year, and I didn't set my keeper so I lost my best player from last year.

Who was your best player you lost?

I probably would have kept Tom Brady. I don't really remember who else I had, but I had a few pretty awesome players last year.

Wow...matt's game is coming down to the adjustment

are all adjustments from sunday's games now done? I'm winning by 2 and if he has no players tonight his score should stay the same right?

Post by matt on Sept 10, 2012 7:58:04 GMT -5
I think that normally they have all of the adjustments for Sunday games done by Monday morning... but I think that they do not declare the stats official and final until tuesday morning. So you can pretty much assume that things will stay the way they are... but they might not.

I'm debating if it's worth benching my remaining player and taking the win, on the off chance i play him and he ges like -4 points or something

My defense had negative

Yeah but one player getting a negative is far more unlikely, but i'd still rather not play him if I knew adjustments weren't going to fuck me

yeah but scoring 100 points can't help me win more, but catching a 1 yard flat route, and fumbling it after being injured can cost me

You're deciding between playing the obviously correct percentage move and superstitiously benching a guy because of what is almost certainly not going to happen. Tough one!

If it was like a backup running back you may have an argument not to play him, but he's one of the most prolific TEs in the past ten years.

Post by Energy Vampire on Sept 10, 2012 12:05:15 GMT -5
Well, that's not necessarily correct is the thing. If adjustments are done, benching him is 100% likely to result in a win. Playing him is only 99%+ likely to win. So the correct play is to bench him, if adjustments are done.
This isn't some namby pamby kickball league where you can make calls willy nilly, this is VBL2 Fantasy Football, I've got investors to answer to!

Um, let me help you with this question...
YOU ARE PLAYING ME, THE GUY WHO FINISHED LAST IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND THOUGHT THAT DRAFTING HIS OWN FRICKIN' TEAM WOULD HELP HIM!
Of course you will win...I'm like your extra "bye" week, only you get a win for playing me...
**sigh**

Well, the bottom line is that the adjustments are typically done overnight, but they're not official until later. So there's no way to know 100% that the adjustments are done.

I'll trade you McGahee or Donald Brown for Andre Johnson.

I would move Bryant or Jackson for one of those 2, but for Johnson i would want either Forte or Martin

Here's a fun stat for "Born To Win",
All of his combined WR/RB scores from this week's game: 30.4
Points from CJ Spiller RB left on the bench: 25.4
Worst possible net gain had he been started: 15.7
Margin of defeat: 7.4
Actually, his best two WRs were also on the bench. Basically the only combination of players that "Born To Win" could have started and lost this game, was the combination he went with. His entire bench outscored all of their respective counterparts.
TL;DR "Born To Win" Sucks
